Camp staff MUST be completed with high school. 18+ preferred. St. Elizabeth's Volunteers must be 15 years old.
Shrine Mont Camps Staff members:

do NOT have to be Episcopalian to work here!

do NOT have to be former campers to work at any of our camps!

encourage others to discover new things and enjoy being at camp;

are open to outcomes and experiences;

set aside their own needs for the needs of their campers;

are respectful of others’ spiritual journeys and open to their own faith formation.
All staff members must:

Complete a Medical History/Consent to Treatment form before camp begins;

Become certified in CPR and First Aid by training week;
-
Submit to a criminal and sexual offender background check;

Be available for the entire staff training period, and on site whenever their camp is in session;

Have experience working with children (preferred);
-
Have enthusiasm, high energy, and ability to work well with other staff (required).
Cabin Team
The cabin team consists of cabin counselors and OOCCs (out of cabin counselors). The cabin team runs programming and cabin time for campers.​
Most cabin staff are hired summer long. Cabin Team Staff will be hired to work at various sessions throughout the summer. They will be expected to remain onsite for the duration of the sessions they serve.
Camp Leadership
Camp leaders provide care, programming, and development for cabin teams and serve as a liaison to the broader camp community.
Camp Leaders will be hired to support all camp programs, and work for variable lengths of time. Prior leadership at camp or otherwise preferred.
St. Elizabeth's Staff
St. Elizabeth's serves campers 14-25 years old with intellectual disabilities.
Volunteer counselors experience camp alongside campers, assisting and supporting them. Volunteer ages start at 15!

Paid Staff support the program and guide the volunteers and campers during the week.
Vienna House
Vienna House staff provide various supports to camps including coordinating facilities, trouble-shooting, and communications.
Vienna House staff work closely with individual camp directors and with the Shrine Mont Camps director.
Hiring Timeline & Details
Please note that the dates listed in this timeline are estimated, but we will be in contact regularly with updates or slight adjustments as necessary.

Hiring will begin mid-January. Applications are accepted until all positions are filled, but applicants are strongly encouraged to complete and return their application promptly. You can expect to receive confirmation that your application has been received as soon as it arrives in the Diocesan office.

Applicants will hear from the Director of Shrine Mont Camps about the status of your application and to set up an interview if applicable. Please note that not all applicants will be asked to set up an interview time, due to the number of applications received each year.

The majority of our interviews will take place during February through March. Your interview may be an in-person or online/telephone interview. It may be one-on-one or in a group setting.

All hiring decisions are planned to be made by MID-APRIL. You should expect to hear from the camp with their final decisions around this time. Contracts will be sent to you via email by the end of the month, and are expected to be returned within two weeks of receipt.​​
Salary Structure
-
1st year counselors: $300 per week, plus room and board.

2nd year counselors: $325 per week, plus room and board.

3rd year counselors and beyond: $350 per week, plus room and board.

Triad- Leadership.: $375 per week, plus room and board. ($25 will be added to weekly pay if the individual returns for a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th summer in the same position).

Session chaplains are paid 380 per week, plus room and board (also, send your kid to a session of camp for free)

Nurse compensation starts at 800 per week, plus room and board. (also, send your kid to a session of camp for free)

All persons hired for Shrine Mont Camps staffs are required to have current certifications in first aid and CPR, submit the Consent to Treat form, take a Safe Church, Safe Communities Certification course, and complete a Voluntary Disclosure Statement about criminal history. These forms will be sent to you at a later date.
