2025 Camps
Lil's Camp
Ages 7-9 (2 sessions)
Coming to camp for the first time can be very exciting, as well as daunting. Lil’s Camp is designed for our youngest campers who are often learning how to be away from their family for the first time, and for those who are looking for a lil’ camp experience. We are always looking to welcome new families and campers into our camp community, and this is the perfect opportunity to get a small taste of Shrine Mont Camps, in just 4 really fun days!
Lil’s Camp looks a lot like other programs at Shrine Mont Camps. Campers sleep in cabins at Woodward campsite in the care of our trained camp counselors, chaplain, and an onsite nurse. Camp days are filled with arts & crafts, games, swimming, and exploring the trails around Shrine Mont. Evenings at camp wouldn’t be complete without exciting evening programs and bonfires…with s’mores of course! Counselors support campers with lots of modeling and encouragement, helping them make new friends, try new activities, and experience God’s love, all in an effort to have a wildly positive first/early experience at Shrine Mont Camps.
If you think your camper would be comforted knowing their family is nearby while they attend Lil’s Camp, the rest of the family might consider attending Family Camp which will run concurrently to Lil’s session 1 in 2025. It’s a nice safety net to have, and when your Lil’s camper finishes their session, they can pop over and join you for the rest of Family Camp.

Session 1: July 6-9
Session 2: July 20-23
St. George's Camp
Ages 8-15 (4 sessions)
At St. George’s Camp, you can expect a fun and action-packed sleep-away camp experience with Christ at the center. All aspects of camp life model and teach campers how to create and celebrate that they are beloved members of the body of Christ, as are all God’s children. Living in cabins on the hillsides of Shrine Mont, campers are immersed in the wonders of the great outdoors. During the day, campers choose different activities based on interests and enjoy small group activities with their cabinmates.
Outside of structured activities, campers also have free time where enjoying each other's company and building community is the primary goal. At St G’s, seemingly ordinary daily activities like cleaning the cabin, singing on the walk to lunch, or exchanging the peace during worship, have a way of becoming extraordinary moments that leave a powerful impact on campers for the rest of their lives. Even the mystery of what the evening program will be each day adds a fun suspense and anticipation to the rhythm of life at St. G’s.
Since learning to build community is a hallmark of camp life at St. George's, the age ranges of campers are typically small by design in order to facilitate positive social interactions among campers in similar developmental stages. For just one session of St.George's however, session 1, the opposite approach is embraced by welcoming a large age spread of campers from 8-14 years olds. This mixed age model provides opportunity for great peer modeling for younger campers, cultivating compassion and empathy for campers of all ages, and leadership development for older campers. And on a practical level, the wide age range increases accessibility for families desiring to send multiple children to camp at the same time. During St. George's session 1, the 10 and 11 year olds will stay at the St. George's campsite, while the 8, 9, and 12-14 year olds will bunk at Woodward campsite. Campers will enjoy some activities each day in age-specific groups, while other parts of the daily programming will engage all campers as one mixed age camp. Campers at St. George's sessions 2, 3, and 4 will stay at the St. George's campsite.

All Saints Camp
Ages 9-14 (3 sessions)
All Saints Camp is one of the newest additions to the camping ministry offered on the mountain and campers love it! It is a blend of several specialty camps from years past, including Art Camp, St. Sebatian’s Sports Camp, and Music & Theater Camp, where campers can choose their own adventure.
All Saints Camp celebrates that every camper is a unique child of God with unique and wonderful gifts. Leaning into these gifts, three different electives, or tracks, are available for campers to choose from--art, sports, and theater--that will shape large blocks of their activity time each day at camp. All Saints Camp provides a deep dive into these areas of interests, while also demonstrating how these various interests intersect.
In addition, campers engage in other fun-filled activities like swimming, chaplain’s time, and even an overnight camping trip. The three sessions of All Saints will feature very similar programming, the only major difference being the age range of campers. All Saints Camp takes place at Woodward campsite, immersed in God's creation.

The Great
15-17 years old
Calling all adventurers! This teenage extension of Explorers Camp, “The Great,” is for older campers who are ready to explore the great outdoors. The Great campers enjoy some time at basecamp at Shrine Mont, but a lot of the time they’re out on extended multi-day backpacking and canoeing expeditions in and around the Shenandoah Valley.
No previous camping experience? No problem! Campers just need to be able to carry a pack, walk for several miles, and be willing to push their comfort zone. While parts of camping will be strenuous, other parts will be absolutely serene. It is often in the woods, far from the noise of our daily lives, that we discover time and space to pray more deeply and listen more carefully to the Holy Spirit.
What else will you find at The Great? New friends, new adventures, and the joy and wonder of extended time in God’s creation!

St. Andrew's Camp - "Under Construction"
Ages 8-11 (1 Session TBD)
St. Andrew’s Camp is an intentionally small, overnight summer camp with higher structure and counselor support than some of the other camps at Shrine Mont. Many campers benefit from this environment and have a wonderful time enjoying an array of traditional camp activities. St. Andrew’s Camp has experienced low enrollment in recent years.
The three campers who attended in 2024 have now aged out of the program and it’s unclear what enrollment might be for 2025. In the absence of a camp director to amplify this unique camp experience, interim camp leadership can not guarantee if St. Andrew’s Camp will be offered in 2025. It is absolutely the desire of the diocese to provide St. Andrew’s Camp again in the future. Interim leadership has spoken with most of the families of summer 2024 St. A’s campers to learn about their experience and explore how Shrine Mont Camps can provide their campers a positive experience in 2025.
If SMCs receive interest in enrollment for St. A’s by early spring 2025 and have sufficient staffing, we would be delighted to offer St. Andrew’s in 2025. If offered, the tentative dates for St. Andrew’s Camp would be July 27-August 1, 2025. We think it’s in the best interest of families to add this program at a later date rather than plan for camp (and childcare) knowing there is a possibility it might not come to fruition this year. All that being said, if you are interested in St. Andrew’s Camp for your child in summer 2025, please contact the camp registrar to let us know! We’ll work with families one-on-one to accommodate the needs of your camper as best we can during this season of transition. Check back here for updates.

St. Elizabeth's Camp
Ages 14-25+ (2 sessions)
St. Elizabeth’s Camp has been welcoming campers with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities to enjoy fun and friendship at Shrine Mont since the summer of 1999. First time campers at St. Elizabeth’s are typically between the ages of 14-25 years old, but the age ceiling is quite flexible as long as camp continues to be a good fit for older campers. Individuals who can walk on uneven ground and tend to their own acts-of-daily-living tend to make great St. E’s campers.
Volunteer counselors, who are typically teenagers and young adults themselves, also stay in the cabins with campers and participate in camp activities, providing campers with a high level of available support and tons of positive peer interactions. St. Elizabeth’s Camp is all about celebrating everyone’s strengths and having opportunities to try new things. Our campers cool off in the pool every day, and engage in a variety of daily indoor and outdoor activities including art, canoeing, fishing, and a rockin’ dance party.
A chaplain spends time each day with campers providing opportunities for conversation and exploration of what it means to be a beloved child of God during chaplain’s time and daily worship. As if all these activities aren’t fun enough, campers are encouraged to prepare a song, dance, or any other performance activity of their choice for their moment in the spotlight on stage at the infamous St.Elizabeth’s talent show on our final night together. Everyone gets an Oscar at St. E’s!

Family Camp
Any Age (1 session)
Family Camp has been bringing families of all shapes and sizes to the mountain for multiple generations. This camp experience offers a wide variety of activities to choose from for literally every member of your family. Activities and programming including bingo, fishing, swimming, square dancing, cook-outs, hikes, and rocking on the porch immersed in the natural beauty of Shrine Mont. A keynote speaker enriches spiritual formation programming for adults, while camp counselors lead a VBS-style morning program for children and teens. Aside from morning programming, there is ample free time for families to spend quality time with one another and with their extended Family Camp “village.”
The Family Camp chaplain engages with campers of all ages to lead daily worship in the outdoor Cathedral Shrine of the Transfiguration. For those looking for even more adventure for your family, off-site excursions or field trips are offered most afternoons to fun destinations in the nearby Shenandoah Valley. And if a slower pace is more your speed, feel free to take a nap and relax with a book by the pool. There’s high autonomy at Family Camp. Families stay in Shrine Mont cottages and enjoy delicious meals cooked by the wonderful Shrine Mont dining hall staff, which are served family style. (Parents don’t have to cook or clean for the entire week!)
Family Camp is a great introduction to sleep away camp for children who aren’t ready to go off on their own just yet. Or if your 7-9 year old is ready to try sleep-away camp, in 2025, Lil’s Camp session 1 will run concurrently to Family Camp. Your child can attend Lil’s camp for three nights and then join their family for the remainder of Family Camp. Sometimes it’s just nice to know your family is nearby. New families attend Family Camp each year and others continue to return summer after summer. It’s the best kept secret on the mountain and no surprise it's appealed to families for over half a century.

Senior High Youth Conference (SHYC)
Ages 14-16 (1 session)
SHYC has all the best parts of summer camp with an infusion of ministry, outreach, and a bit of travel. Alongside pool parties, hikes to North Mountain, frisbee games, and sitting by campfires, campers dive into themes of service, leadership, and vocation. What does it mean to be a disciple of Jesus? How do we love our neighbor even when it’s hard? How can I use the gifts and talents God gave me?
These teen campers quickly discover that time spent wrestling with these questions often leads to deep self-discovery, while simultaneously being an incredible bonding experience with a diverse group of friends. Some days will be spent off campus in the local community in the Shenandoah Valley, while other days we’ll stay on campus playing with elementary kids at a reading camp for local children hosted at Shrine Mont. SHYC has a long legacy as a camp that fosters personal growth and builds a strong community of friends, and we sure hope you’ll be part of this camp community this summer!

Explorers
Ages 10-11
Explorers Camp is for adventurous kids who love being outside in the woods. Campers will spend their days immersed in nature, hiking the scenic trails surrounding Shrine Mont and beyond, as they explore the importance of caring for God’s creation. They will enjoy swimming, chaplains time and other fun activities while at camp. However, most days campers will grab a packed lunch and head out on another great adventure, disconnected from the world of screens, to see what fun they can discover in the wilderness.
They will have the opportunity to enjoy longer hikes, perhaps stepping outside of their comfort zone, as they explore the scenic views of the Shenandoah mountains and rivers. Overnight backpacking adventures await campers, as they practice self reliance carrying their own food and shelter, and work together as a group to set up the campsite with the help of experienced counselors. Explorers campers enjoy making long lasting memories with friends and often leave the mountain with a little more confidence and pride than when they arrived.
